Is It Weird to Go to Dance Classes Alone?

No. Most people who start dancing come alone. Here is why that is completely normal and what you can actually expect.

It is one of the most common questions we receive: can I come alone? The answer is yes. And it is not just fine. It is the most common thing.

Most beginners come alone

Look at any beginner class at USC Studios and you will see that the majority have come on their own. That is the norm. People who start dancing do it for themselves, not to have someone to come with.

Dance is a great way to meet people

Coming alone means you meet new people. Dance is one of the best social activities there is. You work with your body, you focus and you share the experience with everyone else in the room. Many who started alone say they found their closest friends on the dance floor.

In partner dances we rotate

In styles like salsa and bachata we dance with different partners throughout the class. You do not need to come with anyone. Changing and moving around the group is built into the format.

What if I do not know anyone?

Nothing happens. You focus on the dance, you follow the class and you learn. Most people find the room feels open and welcoming from the first class. USC Studios is a place where people connect through dance, not through background information.

Come as you are

All you need to bring is clothes you can move in and a willingness to try something new. Everything else takes care of itself.
