From Missionskyrkan to Medborgarhuset: 20 Years of Dance

The story behind USC Studios begins in Uppsala in 2006. That was when Uppsala Danscenter opened its first dance studio in Missionskyrkan. Latin American dance courses were on the schedule. K-pop classes barely existed and the dance scene in Sweden was narrower. Yet the idea was simple: give people a place to dance.

From one studio to a dance centre

Step by step Uppsala Danscenter grew. More styles were added. More teachers joined. More students found their way there and stayed. The community in Uppsala became a network of people who love dance.

The value of staying

What makes Uppsala Danscenter what it is today is that so many people have returned term after term for years. Students who started as beginners and became teachers. Teachers who shaped generations of dancers. That continuity is rare.

Medborgarhuset as a new home

With 20 years of experience and thousands of students behind it, we are now taking its next step. Medborgarhuset in the heart of Södermalm is the new home. Södermalm has always had a strong sense of community and creativity. We are bringing everything we have learned from Uppsala and planting it here.

What comes next?

USC Studios keeps growing. New styles, new teachers and new students finding their way here every term. But the core remains the same: a place in Stockholm where dance is for everyone.
