Common questions (8)
- What dance styles do you offer? We offer hiphop, streetdance, heels, dancehall, dancing for children, salsa, bachata, contemporary, jazz and more. The full list of current classes is available at usc.se.
- What should I wear?Comfortable clothing you can move freely in. Shoes depend on the style: barefoot or socks for contemporary, ballet, jazz, pilates and kids' dance; clean indoor shoes or sneakers for hip hop, street dance, commercial, K-pop, afrobeats, house, reggaeton, zumba, dance fitness and Feminine Vibe; heels for Heels; dance shoes or indoor shoes for salsa and bachata; your own roller skates for Roller Skates.
- Can I come alone, or should I bring a friend? Both work. Most people come alone, and after a few weeks you know the whole group. In salsa and bachata you need no partner, we rotate. If you bring a friend, you each book a place on the same course.
- Do I need a partner for salsa or bachata? No, you don't need to bring a partner. We rotate during classes so everyone gets to dance with everyone.
- Which dance styles suit me if I want to meet new people?Salsa and bachata. You dance with a partner and we rotate, so you dance with everyone in the group. On Fridays we hold social dance nights where students and others meet. Group courses in hip hop, K-pop and contemporary also grow into a community over ten weeks.
- How fast do you learn to dance? It depends on the style and how often you dance. In salsa and bachata, a ten-week beginner course is usually enough to join a social dance night. Ballet and contemporary build on technique and take longer. What matters is that you come every week. After one term you notice the difference.
- Do I need to bring anything?Bring comfortable clothes you can move in and preferably a water bottle. Shoes depend on the style: barefoot or socks for contemporary, ballet, jazz, pilates and kids' dance; clean indoor shoes or sneakers for hip hop, street, commercial, K-pop, afrobeats, house, reggaeton, zumba and Feminine Vibe; heels for Heels; dance shoes or indoor shoes for salsa and bachata; your own roller skates for Roller Skates.
- What styles can we choose for a hen party? Most styles work. Popular choices are heels, twerk, salsa, bachata and streetdance. Email us and we will match you with the right instructor.
